Adult & Community Education Program
The primary site for the Adult and Community Education Program operates Monday through Thursday at the A.B.G.S. Middle School located at 70 Greenwich Street, Hempstead, NY 11550, from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Students must be 21 years of age or over to enroll. Regular attendance is recommended. Registration and classes are free.
Once proof of age is established, an initial assessment of skills is administered, and the need for support services is identified to determine class placement.
Educational case management, individual and group counseling are also offered to meet the needs of students. Referrals to other community sites operating during the day and evenings are made based on need and availability.
The Adult Education Program also offers Academic Intervention Services, designed to provide quality educational tutoring in a safe, positive, and nurturing environment for children between the ages of 5-14 whose parents are actively enrolled and attending the Hempstead Adult and Community Education Program.
