You should notify the school. When the child returns, make sure to send a note to the school with the reason for absence and the date(s) included. 

The attendance staff will work diligently to help the students return to school. The interventions include, but are not limited to:

• phone calls
• correspondence( warning letters mailed home)
• conferences
• home visits
• Child Protective Service involvement
• PINS (Person in need of supervision)
• referral to school support staff (counselor, social worker, psychologist, dean)
• Investigate status of no shows
• address and phone verifications
• court appearances 

Excused absences include the following types:

• Verified- a note is provided from the parent or guardian.
• Medically Excused-  A doctor or medical note is submitted.
• Family or Personal- A letter is submitted from a lawyer, a court etc....

An unexcused absence is one in which the parent/guardian does not submit in writing the reason a student is absent from school. 

Any address change must be submitted to Central Registration, not only to your child's school.
