• Dear Families,

Welcome to our class! My name is Mrs. Spruell, and I will be your teacher this year! This year will consist of a lot of fun and exciting activites, although it will look different than previous years here at Jackson Main. My goal is to make this school year feel as "normal" and comfortable as possible for everyone (students, parents and teachers) and continue to always put the students needs first.

We will be working in a blended method this year with a mixture of in person and online learning. The students will attend school every day besides Wenesdays. Wenesdays will be a virtual day where students will log into the schoology platform to find their assignments for the day. I made sure that everything is easily availbe to your child when they are not in school and as long as we work together and communicate we will have a successful year!

Every Wednesday the students will have assignments available to them through our schoology platform which can be accessed through the Hempstead School District website, as well as the link on my classroom homepage. It is essential that you check our class homepage, schoology, and ClassDojo for important updates, reminders, and information daily. Students will use a series of application during distance learning such as; schoology, ClassDojo, Clever (iReady & Khan Academy), and ReadyGen. All applications can be located through our class schoology page, or the links provided on my classroom homepage.

It is essential that your child has a device (tablet, I-Pad, computer) at home that he/she can use every Wednesday. Your child will need the device during distance learning in order to complete their at-home assignments and attend zoom meetings. If you child does not have a device avilable to them, please contact me immediately with your child's name at kspruell@hempsteadschools.org or on ClassDojo.

I encourage you to take a moment to watch the Jackson Main reopening video at https://youtu.be/ni5OLrIFC8k to learn about the new procedures for this school year. The first day of virtual learning is Monday, September 14, 2020. The first day of face-to-face classes is Monday, September 21, 2020.

If you have any questions, concerns, or information you would like to share with me, please feel free to contact me using the links provided on the homepage (email, ClassDojo, or phone). I look forward to a fun and exciting year!

    Sincerely,

    Mrs. Spruell
