Dr. Laurie Hamilton

Dr. Laurie Hamilton holds a Doctor of Education in Instructional Leadership from St. John's University, a Master of Science in Early Childhood Education, a Master of Science in Special Education, and a Bachelor of Science in Speech-Language Pathology from Molloy University. Dr. Hamilton also received an Advanced Certificate in Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion from Adelphi University. Her research into the underrepresentation of African American students in gifted programs and early identification of giftedness in young learners has garnered the attention of several significant educational think tanks and school reform leaders. 

Dr. Hamilton has ample experience as a highly effective veteran classroom educator, early childhood specialist, teacher mentor, and academic interventionist. In addition, she provides professional development training to teachers, parents, and community members, emphasizing fostering and nurturing emergent literacy skills in young learners. 

Overwhelmingly devoted to community-based causes, Dr. Hamilton is a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc., The Links Inc., The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, the New York Association for the Education of Young Children, and the National Association for Gifted Education.

Dr. Hamilton was presented with the Education Award from the NAACP for her outstanding commitment to her students and community.
