With over two decades of dedicated service in education, our Dean of Students brings a wealth of experience and a passionate commitment to student success. As a New York State certified School District Administrator, she has served in various leadership roles including Principal, House Principal, and Assistant Principal across multiple districts in New York State.
Throughout her career, Mrs. Blount has demonstrated exceptional leadership in developing and implementing innovative programs that support student achievement and well-being. Her expertise spans crucial areas including My Brother's Keeper initiatives, restorative practices, and diversity, equity, and inclusion programs. She has successfully led the implementation of district-wide student support systems and has been instrumental in fostering strong community partnerships.
As a former school social worker and English teacher, Mrs. Blount brings a unique perspective to her administrative role, combining strong instructional leadership with a deep understanding of students' social-emotional needs. Her experience includes managing school improvement processes and developing innovative programs such as night school and Saturday academy initiatives to provide additional learning opportunities for students.
She is currently pursuing her doctorate at Hofstra University and holds multiple advanced degrees, including completion of the Superintendent Development Program at SUNY Oswego, and maintains active membership in several professional organizations including NYSAWA, NYSASPA, and NAACP. Her previous experience includes serving as District Homeless Liaison, DASA Coordinator, and No Place for Hate Coordinator.
Her commitment to creating inclusive, supportive learning environments is evident in her work coordinating family and community engagement programs, implementing restorative practices, and developing comprehensive student support systems. She consistently demonstrates her dedication to ensuring that all students have the opportunity to succeed and thrive in their educational journey.
