  • Greetings Joseph A. McNeil family

It is with great pleasure that I write this letter of introduction as the newly appointed principal of Joseph A. McNeil Elementary School (J.A.M.E.S.) I am honored to join a school community where “Greater” is on the horizon. Our theme for the 2023-2024 school year is: “Growing Our Dreams.”  My vision for the school year is to navigate the upcoming school year successfully with a focus on ensuring the seeds of success are planted for each of our scholars and school community to grow. I look forward to growing our dreams together with and for our scholars success.

I attended Howard University where I earned a degree in Psychology and Biology and went on to obtain a master's degree in science education and a master's degree in educational leadership at Brooklyn College. This school year will mark my 19th year in public education, where I have served as a community-based organization counselor, math and science classroom teacher, district math and science administrator, STEM Director, Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum and Instruction, and Principal Fellow.

In support of our school improvement plan, we will ensure scholars learn through highly effective classroom instructional strategies, develop effective restorative and wellness practices, and our schoolwide community at large is aware and involved in efforts to support our scholars. As the school leader of J.A.M.E.S., it is my goal to inspire a culture of high-level teaching and learningWe will work to get to know our scholars, their personalities, learning styles, and interestsAs a part of our school community, we will celebrate our scholars' accomplishments, whether small or large, and remind them that they are valued and are a part of our school community. Through collaboration between our staff and parents, our scholars will continue to receive the best possible educational experiences to prepare them for the rewards and blooms of success.

I wholeheartedly believe that ALL scholars can learn at high levels, and it is our goal to ensure that our scholars receive a quality education in an environment that is safe and nurturing every day. I am committed to working in partnership with our scholars, families, staff, and the community to support each scholar as they continue to learn and grow

I look forward to meeting you at our parents' meeting on August 28th at 4 pm to discuss our first year together. I am truly honored to serve the J.A.M.E.S. community as we embrace this new school year together. Please take an opportunity to visit our website regularly for updates and information from the school and the district.

Welcome to Joseph A. McNeil Elementary’s 2023-2024 school year!
