Program: Morrison Mentors’ Online S.T.E.A.M. Classes
Morrison Mentors (MMentors) implemented an online version of its online S.T.E.A.M. (Science, Technology, Engineering Arts and Math) enrichment afterschool program for My Brother’s Keeper (MBK). These engaging online classes will focus on establishing and honing students’ technical skills to promote independent learning for out of the box 21st Century thinking!
Online S.T.E.A.M. classes are a great way to streamline in-school education to in-home independent learning. By leveraging our students’ fascination in S.T.E.A.M., Morrison Mentors will establish an online learning comfort that will ease their apprehension to further online learning opportunities. For the purpose of this online program, Morrison Mentors will deliver two S.T.E.A.M. sessions a week, for 90 minutes each session for 20 weeks. Workshops can include, but not limited to the following topic areas:
- Website Design
- Augmented Reality/Virtual Reality
- Coding (HTML, Python, Java, .NET, etc.)
- Computer Hardware
- Video Game Design
- 3D Printing & Modeling
- Art Technology with Photoshop
- Programming a Drone!
Additionally, Morrison Mentors will structure our S.T.E.A.M. classes to purposely reference and show the value/importance of major subject areas such as: Science, Math, ELA and Social Studies.
