Refugee & Immigrant Student Welcome Program

The Department of Bilingual Education & World Languages, in collaboration with Ms. Tiara Adams is excited to announce the successful launch of our Refugee & Immigrant Student Welcome Program, which began yesterday, September 28, 2026!

We had a wonderful first day filled with new friendships, engaging activities, valuable resources, and student participation. Check out the photos from yesterday's successful session and see what our students have already experienced!

We are now welcoming additional students to join us every day this week through Friday, October 2, 2026.

Who Can Attend?

✅ Students in Grades 7-12
✅ English Language Learners (ELLs)
 

No Registration Required!

Walk-ins are welcome! Students may attend any day throughout the week.

What Students Will Receive

🎒 School supplies

🍎 Snacks and dinner

📚 Educational materials and school resources

🚌 Transportation 

🤝 Information about academic and social-emotional supports

🌍 Access to community resources and services

🎉 Fun activities, games, and opportunities to make new friends

 

Program Locations & Times

ABGS Middle School: Room 147

🕝 Students may arrive beginning at 2:30 PM
⏰ Program concludes at 6:00 PM

 

Hempstead High School: Room A212

🕜 Students may arrive beginning at 1:30 PM
⏰ Program concludes at 5:00 PM
