The Facilities Department of Hempstead Public Schools is committed to providing a safe, clean, and well-maintained learning environment for all students, staff, and visitors. Our team ensures that all district buildings and grounds are properly maintained and compliant with health, safety, and regulatory standards.

Our Core Functions

  • Maintenance & Repairs: Timely response to service requests for building systems, equipment, and infrastructure.

  • Custodial Services: Daily cleaning and upkeep of classrooms, offices, and common spaces.

  • Groundskeeping: Maintenance of lawns, athletic fields, sidewalks, snow removal, and beautification projects.
  • Capital Projects: Oversight of construction, renovations, and bond-funded improvements.
  • Health & Safety Compliance: Ensuring adherence to NYS regulations, including fire safety, ventilation, asbestos management, and emergency readiness.
  • Work Order Management: Processing and tracking all maintenance and facility-related requests through our internal work order system.
