Science & STEAM

Mission Statement

Our mission is to inspire a lifelong passion for science in every student from PreK through Grade 12 by fostering curiosity, creativity, and critical thinking. We are committed to creating student-centered classrooms where learning is driven by real-world phenomena and grounded in an inquiry-based approach. Through hands-on investigations, experiments, and collaborative exploration, students actively construct knowledge and make meaningful connections to the world around them. Instruction is data-driven to ensure equitable access, targeted support, and continuous growth for all learners. We prioritize increasing student engagement by making science relevant, interactive, and challenging—empowering all students to become informed, innovative, and responsible global citizens.

To deepen understanding and collaboration, we integrate the Claim–Evidence–Reasoning (CER) framework as a core engagement tool, guiding students to support their ideas with evidence, explain their reasoning, and communicate effectively when working together.

Vision Statement

Our vision is to cultivate a dynamic and inclusive PreK–12 science learning community where all students:

  • Engage deeply with phenomena-based learning that sparks wonder, relevance, and sustained interest.
  • Experience increased engagement through active participation, meaningful discussions, and authentic problem-solving.
  • Use the Claim–Evidence–Reasoning (CER) process to strengthen their scientific thinking, communication, and collaborative skills.
  • Develop the ability to think critically, ask meaningful questions, and design solutions through an inquiry-driven process.
  • Participate in hands-on, minds-on learning through rich investigations, experiments, and interactive projects.
  • Leverage data and feedback to personalize learning, track progress, and celebrate achievement.
  • Collaborate with peers, teachers, and community partners to explore authentic scientific challenges and innovations.
  • Leave our classrooms prepared with the knowledge, skills, and mindset to thrive in a complex, ever-changing world.

Together, we envision a science program where increased engagement fuels curiosity, curiosity fuels discovery, discovery fuels understanding, and understanding fuels action—empowering all learners to see themselves as scientists, innovators, and stewards of the future.
