Hon. Noah Burroughs – 2025 Hempstead Homecoming Grand Marshal

A graduate of Hempstead High School, he distinguished himself as both a student leader and athlete, participating in football and track & field, where he first demonstrated the teamwork, discipline, and perseverance that would later define his public service.

After graduating, Burroughs earned an Associate’s Degree from Nassau Community College, a Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology from the University at Buffalo, and dual Master’s Degrees in Special Education and Education Administration from Touro College. His strong academic foundation prepared him for a lifelong commitment to education and civic leadership.

For more than two decades, Assemblyman Burroughs served within the Hempstead Public Schools, including at A.B.G.S. (Alverta B. Gray Schultz) Middle School, where he was known as a dedicated educator and mentor. His passion for guiding young people and supporting their growth earned him the respect of students, colleagues, and families alike. Through his work, he became a powerful advocate for educational equity, community engagement, and youth empowerment.

In 2021, Burroughs was elected as a Village Trustee in the Village of Hempstead. In that role, he prioritized improving quality of life for residents, strengthening senior citizen tax exemptions, enhancing public safety in senior housing, and addressing illegal business activity. His practical and compassionate leadership reflected his deep understanding of community needs.

Today, Assemblyman Burroughs proudly represents New York’s 18th Assembly District in the New York State Assembly, where he continues to advocate for education, public safety, affordable housing, and local investment. His recent efforts have helped secure millions in state funding for community revitalization projects, including the redevelopment of former school facilities and neighborhood improvement initiatives.

Burroughs’s dedication to public service is inspired by his family and his upbringing. His father’s involvement in the Southern Christian Leadership Conference (SCLC) during the Civil Rights era instilled in him a lifelong commitment to justice, equality, and community empowerment — values that continue to guide his leadership today.

Throughout his career, Assemblyman Burroughs has remained deeply connected to Hempstead. He is not only a product of this community but also one of its strongest advocates, consistently working to uplift and unite its residents.
