    Kindergarten Physical Education

This year we are focusing more intensely on movement education so that our students are active for the majority of the time that they are in Physical Education class. Prospect‘s goal is to get closer to the “60 Minutes of active and vigorous play every day for kids to grow up to a healthy weight”.

Currently, students are learning how to use space, while performing locomotor skills such as; running jumping and skipping. They are also trying new ways of moving like galloping hopping and sliding. The students are now learning how to use their bodies to balance, tumble and roll. With these activities students are incorporating the ability to stretch, bend, twist, turn, push and pull. They learn that balance is an important skill that requires strength and concentration. They are encouraged to use their imagination and create new poses, balance positions such as ; cobra stretch, lion pose or a crab balance.
