Dear Hempstead Family,
It is with deep sadness that I share heartbreaking news with our school community. We have learned of the tragic passing of a 12-year-old student of our students and his dad as the result of a residential fire. This is a tragic loss and our hearts are with the student’s family, friends, and all those who knew and cared for them.

On March 4, 2026, scholars from Hempstead Public Schools proudly represented the district at the Empire State Plaza in Albany, New York, delivering an exceptional musical performance in celebration of Music in Our Schools Month.
