Drop Everything and Read
(DEAR) |
The more time spent on reading, the better
students read.
At the Barack Obama Elementary School we take this initiative seriously!
This sustained silent reading time takes place throughout the entire
building.
We begin (DEAR) at 8:45 and conclude by 8:55.

Book Collection |
Barack Obama Elementary School collected
children’s books to send to the Caroline Wumbai Mungai Orphanage in
Kenya. The storybooks were donated by libraries, neighbors and the
students themselves and will be sent in time for the holidays. Town of
Hempstead Councilwoman Dorothy Goosby congratulated Principal Jean
Bligen, Sharon Edmonston, teacher, and all of the children for their
hard work and generosity in collecting the books.
Thank you to all staff members who helped in this wonderful project!
