Students Perform With the Long Island Philharmonic
As part of its ongoing partnership with the Long Island Philharmonic,
the district hosted a Music in Our Schools concert at Hempstead High
School on March 22. The concert, which was led by the orchestra's Music
Director David Stewart Wiley, featured instrumental performances by the
district's elementary, middle school and high school students.

Tigers Win 2011 Year of the Tiger Homecoming!
Hempstead High School’s football team defeats Valley Stream Central High, 33-14. Go Tigers!
The Hempstead community heard the Tigers roar on October 22 as the
Hempstead Public Schools celebrated its 122nd Annual Homecoming and
Vending Festival. Hundreds of students, principals, parents, families
and residents showed their Hempstead Tiger pride by marching in the
district’s annual Homecoming Parade, which kicked off the Year of the
Tiger celebration. The Hempstead High School football team later capped
off the celebration with a 33-14 victory against Valley Stream Central
High School. Go Tigers!
The Hempstead Board of Education and Acting Superintendent of Schools
Julius Brown congratulates all of the students and homecoming
participants for showing their school-spirit throughout the day and
supporting the Hempstead School District. The district also thanks Music
and Fine Arts Director Angel Perez and all of the organizers of this
year's celebration for making the annual Hempstead Tiger spirit-filled
day a success.
Jackson Annex School hosted a fair on May 7, 2011 to raise money for the tsunami victims in Japan.
District Celebrates Cinco de Mayo
In celebration of Cinco de Mayo, teacher Ms. Jennifer Klausner held activities at Fulton and Jackson Annex schools that taught students about the historical and cultural significance of the Mexican heritage holiday. The activities were also a part of the district's new Foreign Language in the Elementary School (FLES) Program.
