2011-2012 Superintendent’s Message:
Dr. Patricia Garcia
Dear Parents, Guardians, Residents and Colleagues:
The second half of our school year is already in full swing and I want to thank each of you for working with our school district to make many positive strides during the first half of the 2011-2012 school year.
It gives me great pleasure to announce that the Winter 2012 edition of our district’s Hempstead Herald newsletter is now available on our district’s website. As you peruse through this latest newsletter, please take the time to read about all of the great student achievements in our district. Our students are excelling academically, athletically, and musically, as well as volunteering their time to make a difference locally and globally. Our school district is very proud of them and all that they have accomplished so far this school year. I would like to take this opportunity to commend all of our bright, talented and hard working students for a job well done.
As your Superintendent of Schools, I also want to reassure you that the administrators, teachers and staff in our district will remain steadfast in continuing efforts to improve and strengthen our students’ academic performance and talents. Achieving this goal will not be easy, but with a complete united front, I truly believe that this goal — and many others — is attainable in the Hempstead Public Schools.
Lastly, as you all know, the 2012-2013 budget planning season is now upon us and the district is slated to host several important budget workshops and meetings in March. Preparing next year’s budget will be an extremely challenging task for our school district because we are in the midst of very tough economic times. Therefore, the Hempstead Board of Education and I strongly encourage you to attend the important meetings listed below to ensure that you remain informed about the future of our school district.
Please also note that Tuesday, May 15, 2012 is the district’s annual Budget Vote, and polls will be open at the Alverta B. Gray Schultz Middle School, 70 Greenwich Street Hempstead, NY 11550, from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. This administration urges you to please save the date and remember to cast your ballot on that important day.
